About Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do, loosely translated meaning
"The Way of Hand and Foot," can trace its heritage back to the origin
of all martial arts. A general in the Korean military, General Choi Hong
Hi developed Tae Kwon Do in the 1950's. Later it migrated to the United
States and has become one of the most well known martial arts in the
world, as well as becoming an Olympic Event. The emphasis of the art is
on kicking. Approximately 60 to 70 percent of the strikes are done with
the foot. There are many jumping and spinning techniques. It is as much
fun to practice as it is to watch.
