Michael Val; Owner/Cheif Instructor
Mr. Val started his training at age 12 in Hayward, CA with Professor Jim Juarez and the Kajukendo Association to whom he credits gaining the love for martial arts. For the next ten years or so, he tried several different arts developing a broad martial arts foundation. Finding Tae Kwon Do in his mid 20's he had finally found a martial art that was right for him. He started working as a manager for America's Best Karate, Inc. at the school on Blossom Hill Rd. in San Jose, CA. An opportunity presented itself to manage a school in Las Vegas and he moved there in January of 1996. Working primarily out of the A.B.K. school on Nellis Blvd. he built up the school from a very low enrollment to a successful operating location, and met the Las Vegas native woman who would become his wife. The following June he earned his First Dan Black Belt. The schools there were closed mid 1997 in the sonsolidation effort to start television production. Mr. Val moved back to California and continued to teach for A.B.K. out of their San Leandro School. For 2+ years he taught there and helped in the production of the award winning television series "Adventures With Kanga Roddy." When A.B.K. Inc. decided to give all their efforts to media, an offer

was made for him to take over the school in San Leandro. Not feeling quite ready to own a school of his own yet, he declined and sought employment elsewhere. One year later Master Tony Lerma of A.B.K. Danville made an offer of employment. It was there that he earned his 2nd and 3rd Degree and continued to teach for another two years. Late in 2002 a family illness brought him and his wife back to Las Vegas. He was unable to find a school to train at that met all of his expectation and standards. So, late in 2003 he started the process of opening up an A.B.K. of Las Vegas. February of 2004 is scheduled to open (or re-open) America's Best Karate of Las Vegas.
